Blogger's Blag: Crime writer's play Snog, Marry, Avoid at Theakston's crime writing festival!

Don't you think it's nice to get a slightly different slant on your favourite Crime writers?  Well, with The Crime warp's Snog,Marry, Avoid game at Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival this year that's exactly what you get! Read on to find out which of our nefarious writers would snog a serial killer, marry a super sleuth and avoid other crime writer's... it's all very revealing (and extremely funny!)

Louise Voss (The Venus Trap and The Blissfully Dead with Mark Edwards due for release Sept 2015)
Louise opted to  Snog Tony HillMarry Bergerac and (for some strange reason)   Avoid Annie Wilkes from Misery. Although, it has to be said that until she learned of Tony Hill's impotence she was all for marrying him.
Louise Voss & Mark Edwards
Mark Edwards (Follow You Home and The Blissfully Dead co written with Louise Voss due for release in Sept) insisted on snogging Sherlock Holmes (bit of a tobacco breath fetish going on there I think), Marrying all three of Charlies Angels (no impotence problems there then) and not content with avoiding Hercule Poirot he insisted on killing him!
Belinda Bauer (winner of last years Theakston's Old Peculier Crime novel of the year with Rubbernecker and runner up in this year's with The Facts Of Life and Death) was keen to snog Lisbeth Salander (who wouldn't), marry Lincoln Rhyme and avoid Tempe Brennan.
Belinda Bauer, Chris Ewan & Stav Sheraz
Chris EwanDark Tides and Safe House) opted to snog Kinsey Millhone, Marry John Rebus (purely cerebral) and avoid The Joker.
Stav Sherez preferred to have sex with Tom Ripley (snogging's too intimate) marry James Bond because he'd be away most of the time leaving Stav free to listen to his music and he'd avoid poor old Agatha Raisin.
Mark Billingham

Mark Billingham (the Tom Thorne Novels , the most recent being Time of Death) decided to 'close his eyes' and snog Miss Marple (there was mention of knitting needles but no mention of tongues), Marry V.I Warshawski and avoid The Secret Seven.

James Oswald

James Oswald (Dead Men's Bones, Prayer For the Dead) was quick to attest that he'd snog anybody but, for the purpose of the game, he settled for  V.I Warshawski.  he'd marry the gentleman thief Raffles  because he'd be able to keep him stocked up in pedigree sheep and cattle and he'd avoid Roman sleuth Falco.

Ann Cleeves
Ann Cleeves (Thin Air (the Shetland series) and the new Vera Stanhope novel The Moth Catcher due for release Sept 2015) Ann opted to snog Corrie serial killer Richard Hillman, marry one of The Secret Seven if they were grown up, rich and nice and avoid Miss Marple (knitting needles were mentioned again!)

Diana Bretherick
Diana Bretherick (City of Devils  and The Devil's Daughter's due for release Aug 2015)
Diana was keen to snog blond haired, blue eyed crooner Hutch, she wanted a bit of danger in her life by marrying Dexter and she would avoid Marjory Allingham (and after seeing her in a headscarf in the photo round of The Big Quiz I can see why!)

David Mark

David Mark (Hull based Aector McAvoy series with Sorrow Bound and current release Taking Pity).  David opted to Snog James Bond , specifically the Timothy Dalton carnation of Bond, he'd marry Harry Hole in anticipation of many happy drinking experiences and he opted to avoid Jack Reacher because he's too tall and too flightly.

Cath Staincliffe

Cath Staincliffe (author of the Scott & Bailey books and recent stand alone Half The World Away) with only a very remote sexual attraction between them Cath opted to snog Bergerac, to have a purely platonic marriage of convenience with Hamish McBeath and avoid at all costs Lord Peter Wimsey.

Eoin McNamee
Eoin McNamee (Resurrection Man and Blue Is The Night)
Eoin opted for the ultimate snog with Hannibal Lector, a meeting of the Celts in a marriage with John Rebus and to avoid psycopath Tom Ripley.
