Book review: Don't Lose Her by Jonathon King, a Max Freeman thriller set in Florida

When heavily pregnant Florida judge Diane Manchester whilst presiding over the extradition case of a Colombian drug lord, is abducted, the assumption is that he and his fellow criminals are responsible.  Especially when  before the abduction he issues a veiled threat to Diane and her baby!

Thankfully, Diane's husband Billy, distrustful of the FBI focus
on the Drug Lord, brings in Max Freeman who whilst the FBI follow the drugs freeman, under Billy's direction explores wider possibilities which lead him deep into the Everglades.  In Don't Lose Her each character is carefully honed and through skillful narration we find out more about the motivation of the
criminals as well as feeling Diane's raw emotion as she prepares to fight to protect her baby through intellect and emotional appeals.

King takes us on a journey that goes beneath the Florida sun and into the ghettos,  the Native American reservations and the harsh Everglades.  A story
with heart and  bravery.  It's gritty, well balanced and human.  A good read!
