My Thoughts
Ever since I was a child, I have loved boarding school stories. They're the YA equivalent of a locked room mystery. The Wicked Oath offers everything I love about these types of mysteries - Drama, thrills, suspense, underdogs you can really root for and characters you can really despise.
Lewis's characterisation is excellent. From the teachers to the odious prefects and our heroes, each one is nuanced and beautifully crafted.
For those of you who haven't read many YA novels before, rest assured that this one holds no punches. The Wicked Oath shines a spotlight on bullying and draws you in regardless of your age. I loved the setting of the school and felt it played a role as a character in the narrative. All in all this is highly recommended.
