Three British Mid Summer Reading Suggestions

Fall Down Dead by Stephen Booth

Some of you might enjoy walking holidays at the Peak District. Careful when the fog descends, all kinds of creepy things could happen, you could even die. DI Ben Cooper is suspicious when Faith Matthew falls to her death. Not only does he have to try to figure out if she was murdered, but there is an internal investigation involving DS Diane Fry which threatens Cooper himself. What will happen to the ever popular police duo?
The internationally bestselling author Stephen Booth has won the CWA Dagger and the popular Cooper and Fry series is now in development for television. First published in August 2018 by Sphere.

The Death Knock by Elodie Harper

Some of you might enjoy weekend breaks in East Anglia, it’s on my bucket list. But what if you meet a serial killer, one that kidnaps people before murdering them? Ever wondered what it's like being held by a psychopath? The police refuse to face that possibility, but journalist Frances Latch, aka Frankie, expects the worst when young Ava goes missing. Will she be able to track down the killer before Ava too is killed?

This is journalist Elodie Harper’s second book and it’s gripping. The Death Knock was first published by Mulholland in July 2018.

Her Watchful Eye by Julie Corbyn

I decided to follow up two police procedurals with a tense psychological thriller. I’ve often wondered about CCTV operators and if you haven’t up to now, you certainly will once you’ve read this book. A stalker’s dream job – one that has all kinds of potential for seriously creepy scenarios, lies, secrets, mystery… and murder. What happens when the CCTV operator recognises someone they are deeply interested in?

Her Watchful Eye has been hugely popular. It was first published by Mulholland Books in September 2018. The author Julie Corbyn is Scottish but she has lived in East Sussex for a number of years.
