Book Review: John Grisham's gripping new legal thriller Rogue Lawyer

Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham (Release Date 20th October 2015)
Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer.  His office is his reinforced bulletproof car and his clients are not always innocent.  However, when he sees injustice he does his utmost to expose it and isn't afraid to take on fellow lawyers, the legal system and corrupt law enforcement officers.

However, when he agrees to represent a man suspected of

abducting a police officer’s pregnant daughter, his job impacts on his family in a way he could never have imagined.  The courtroom scenes are dramatic and compelling with, Rudd portrayed as a complex character continually struggling to keep a lid on his temper.  I found it intriguing when, Grisham allows us access to Rudd’s thoughts and motivations.
Rogue Layer is a chilling expose of the US justice system at its worst and Grisham’s grip on the legal details is impeccable.  From his unsettling description of execution by lethal injection to his knowledgeable portrayal of cage fighting and its intricacies Grisham is a master storyteller.

Rogue Lawyer is a fascinating read and fans of legal thrillers will enjoy this immensely.
