The Mistry Crime Tour through the big screen and into your living room

From cinema releases Big Game, a comedy, action adventure (Release date 8th May) to the serious kick ass British made Spooks: The Greater Good (release date 8th May) and TV crime drama's from Channel 4's (Tuesday's 9 PM) gritty down to earth police drama No Offence to BBC2's spy thriller The Game (Thursday's 9 PM) we're spoiled for choice this early summer time.

Big Game is a fun family film set in the midst of the most gorgeous Finnish scenery.  The big name star may be Samuel L Jackson but for me the ultimate star was the young actor Onni Tommila who delivered his lines with perfect comic aplomb and was sooooo cute to boot.  Air Force One comes under attack and the President is ejected and lands in the depths of Finnish forests and mountains.  He is rescued by Oskari, a 13 year old Finnish boy spending a 'rite of passage' night in the forests to hunt game.  This is such a feel good film with really funny bits and lots of action. Great for family viewing.

Spooks: The Greater Good is a spin off from the widely acclaimed TV series Spooks.  It stars Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) as Will Holloway whose mentor Harry Pearce (Peter Firth) is abducted by terrorist Adem Qasim (Elyes Gabel).  Like the TV series pooks: The Greater Good is full of fantastic stunts and action, fast paced  and daring.  A really good film for fans of current, edgy spy thrillers with great acting by, in particular Kit Harington.

The Game (BBC2 Thursdays 9 PM) is a six part Cold War spy thriller series set in the 1970's.  Agents from MI5 seek out spies and traitor's from the KGB that have infiltrated high office in British Government.  This is British drama at it's best with romantic interests sometimes influencing agents actions.  An authentic and compelling series starring Tom Hughes and Brian Cox this is quality British acting.

No Offence is an 8 part comedy police drama written by Shameless writer Paul Abbott.  With unexpected grit (the opening scene of the first episode, I think, sums up the visceral comedic tone of this series) and with a great bunch of good female protagonists this is fast paced, exciting and poignant in turn.  The characters are lively and funny, their investigations are serious and with only the first episode to judge from I'm betting that this is going to go from strength to strength.  I'm definitely hooked.
