Book Review: And Grant You Peace by Kate Flora, a thought provoking story not afraid to deal with the prejudice felt and faced when refugees enter small communities!

When Portland detective Joe Burgess rescues a young girl and her baby from a burning mosque in Portland Maine an investigation into arson develops into something far more complex as refugee Somali Muslims, a small community, Iron Angels Bikers, local gun and drug crime converge.

This is a brave and thought provoking novel that doesn't shy away with voicing the prejudices and difficulties faced when  refugees from a different culture strive to adapt and fit in to the American way of life. Kate Flora balances the 'political' aspects of the situation whilst delivering a complex, well plotted police procedural.
Portland Maine
Joe Burgess and his detectives are portrayed as normal men struggling with their innate prejudices whilst trying to maintain law and order in an increasingly difficult investigation. They have family lives that they seek to protect whilst doing their job.
Flora ably demonstrates that not all demons are the refugees and that within every group there is evil and
corruption.  And Grant You Peace was gripping read with plenty of action and lovely twists on the criminal alliances of the crime.
Police procedural fans will love it!
