Book Review: Close your eyes by Michael Robotham; fantastically plotted, beautifully delivered and wholly satisfying
When a mother and daughter are murdered in their isolated farmhouse in Somerset DCS Ronnie Cray asks psychologist Joe O’Loughlan to help. Soon he links it to other attacks in the area and the hunt to find the killer is on.
Close Your Eyes has a fantastic opening that sets the bar very high for the rest of the book and with his ability to articulate the small nuances that impact the larger picture Robotham maintains the high bar.

In Close Your Eyes Robotham picks away at the dynamics of relationships like the proverbial dog with a bone, exposing real human stories that push the story along. In Joe O’ Loughlan we have a character who is both intelligent and sensitive and yet carries the baggage of personal failures. The psychology of the characters is intriguing and Robotham skilfully weaves their actions and motivations together
With many suspects to choose from and clues liberally sprinkled along the way I still was near the end before I clicked on to who the killer was.
