M R Hall’s free online creative writing course - via Facebook!

 

I recently posted details about M R Hall’s new book, The Chosen Dead, and have just found out about a free online creative writing course he’s running which looks very appealing. 

The Seven Step Creative Writing Course, launched on 28 January (sorry, only just found out about it), uses a series of weekly videos, each covering a different aspect of crime writing.  The course sounds interesting because it doesn’t go through the “creating perfect prose” thing, but instead concentrates on the things which are fundamental to a novel which keeps you on the page - storytelling techniques, how to build dramatic tension, tips for writing conflict, as well as giving practical advice on structure and characterisation.  All for free!

And even better - at the end of the course there’s a competition to win a place on an intensive two day creative crime writing course in central London run by M R Hall himself and fellow crime author William Ryan.  If you want to enter the competition, you have to upload the first paragraph of a crime novel once the competition opens on March 11th.
