The Crime Warp

So, I'm delighted to introduce you to Alison Morgan who is one of the lovliest people you could hope to meet ... and she's a damn good author too. Today she's agreed to do a Detectives in the Dock article to introduce her new character and the first in the series is actually released tomorrow - Happy Book Birthday for tomorrow. Now over to Alison Alison Morgan gives you: Connie Quirk Tell us a little about Connie Quirk’s background: Available here Connie is one half of P.Q. Investigations. She and Peddyr are a husband and wife team. They met in Hong Kong where she was born as Fen Fang Wong and where Peddyr worked as a British Officer in the Hong Kong Police. At the time, she was employed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office taking on hush-hush and secret squirrel translations. Even after having two children and moving to the UK she still carries out consultancy work and general translations as well as managing a business. She also has a long history of killing off pot...

Available here Here I go again with my binge read ... this time it's Alex Smith's turn with his Detective DCI Robbie Kett.  So far there are 5 books in this series, with the sixth, I believe due to be released in April 2021 - I for one can't wait. So, what made this series for me? I'd be lying if I told you it wasn't mainly because of DCI Robbie Kett himself. What a character he is - an so very different from most of the detectives doing the rounds at the moment. Kett is a single parent  to three young girls (all under the age of 7). He's been thrust unexpectedly into this role after his wife is abducted. Paper Girls, the first in the series, takes up a few months after her abduction when Robbie and his small family move to Norwich to try to make things easier for himself and his girls whilst the investigation into his wife's disappearance continues in London.  Available here Seeing this detective - one lauded by the London Met for his ability to get the job...

It's great to have the chance to delve into the mind of Michelle Kidd's DCI Jack MacIntosh, so without further ado let's get grilling him. Tell us a little about Jack MacIntosh’s background Detective Inspector Jack MacIntosh is the central character in my DI Jack MacIntosh series (unsurprisingly!). He works for the Metropolitan Police. He is a character with many different facets. The main element of his background is that as a child aged 4 he witnessed the aftermath of his mother’s death by discovering her body hanging from a light fitting. Both he and his younger brother, Stuart, were then taken into the foster care system and were separated for much of their childhood and early adult lives. Jack fared well, joining the police force, but his brother wasn’t so lucky. I won’t spoil the story any more! The Fields of Wheat moment… What is the most rebellious thing Jack has ever done? In the fourth book in the series – ‘The Bishop’ – due for release in January 2021 – Ja...

I am delighted to welcome Michelle Kidd onto The Crime warp today. Her most recent novel m The Fifteen, was released in August this year and she's hoping for the fourth in the series to be released early in 2021. So, Michelle settle down with a vanilla slice and a cup of hot chocolate and spill the beans ...  Tell us a bit about your current book release. Available here My most recent release ‘The Fifteen’ was published at the beginning of August 2020. This is the third book in my DI Jack MacIntosh series. I wrote the majority of it during Lockdown, putting the extra time to good use! How long did The Fifteen take to write? A little over six months from start to finish. I work for the NHS and was able to work a lot of the time at home during Lockdown – and found that days had more than the usual 24 hours! I was able to spend more time writing than I usually can, and found it a useful escape from the depression and horror of the outside world. I am grateful to Jack MacIntosh,...
