Book Bloggers in the Spotlight welcomes book blogger extraordinaire Donna Morfett from Donna's Interviews and Reviews blog

I am delighted to welcome Donna Morfett onto The Crime warp today. Donna is a book and crime fiction enthusiast and her support for authors is boundless. I have had the pleasure of being interviewed by Donna and we had a real laugh. So over to Donna ...

1. What is your blog called and what do you feature on it?

Donnas Interviews, Reviews and Giveaways – Features book reviews, other bloggers reviews, new releases, cover reveals, and soon to feature blog tours. I also share details of a couple of podcasts and am soon to launch my own.

There are also giveaways and author interviews.

Tell me a bit about how and why you started your blog.

Its all Duncan Brockwells fault!! He was worried about an upcoming release so I suggested to him an interview that I could post on my page at the time, British Crime Fiction, and to his beta group. It could then be shared around the various book groups and would reach a lot of people which would hopefully help the book sales. He thought it was a great idea but said that Andy Roberts book was out the previous day. I asked Andy and he agreed to an interview. I then thought I would throw it open to other authors, and it went a bit crazy, and before I knew it over 45 authors had asked to be interviewed.

Duncan (this guy!!) suggested that I start my own page, so I did. I am actually so grateful to Duncan as he has been a great support and cheerleader when I've had doubts.

I have my own bookstagram now, so my normal Instagram didn’t have to be inundated with my book posts!

3. What’s the most enjoyable thing about blogging about books?

I think there are two main factors. The first is being able to share your review of a book far and wide which will give the author a boost. In return I’ve developed a lot of great friendships with lots of authors, and I cannot wait for this pandemic to be over to hopefully meet some of them in person, and hopefully go to Harrogate. I have also developed some great friendships with other bloggers, and other book lovers. On the whole it is such a fantastic friendly community. I feel like I have finally found the place where I truly belong.
Secondly it gives me a buzz to see people say they have brought a book based on my recommendation.

A bit about Donna

What is your day job?

Part time Greggs supervisor and full time Forensic Science student

If you were to host a “Come Dine With Me” party, who would you invite from the Crime Fiction fraternity and why?

At the risk of upsetting a lot of my author friends it would have to be Chloe Jordon, Zoe O’Farrell and Kate Eveleigh

Which fictional hero or anti-hero would you like to meet and why?

Detective Bliss from Tony Forder’s books, it just feels like he needs a hug and a woman to keep him company, and I went to check out his garden and koi pond.

Tell us something unexpected that you’ve done.

Despite still being cripplingly shy at school ( I was I swear!!!) I volunteered to do a speech night. I had to stand up in front of a bunch of people and read out a poem. Thankfully I didn’t mess it up!

Do you have a fan girl boy moment to share?
Peter May agreed to be interviewed by me, not got over it yet to be honest
