The Killing Connection by T.F. Muir, book review

Voyeurism, blackmail, murder and St Andrews – what more does a crime reader want? As a student at St Andrews I got to enjoy the beach, the castle and the rocks – albeit without dead bodies. Maybe I never encountered many murderers because DCI Andy Gilchrist, aided by his team of misfits, tracked them down and locked them up.

In the ‘Killing Connection’ however, it’s not so straight forward. The murderer is wily, practiced and expert at evading capture. When Gilchrist gets a new boss, who is intent at hindering him at all turns, the investigation into the death of a young woman turns sour.

The fact that he is side-tracked by the personal affairs of a colleague, doesn’t help, especially as these affairs bring danger into their lives from the darkness that is Glasgow.

Following the twists and turns of this entertaining police procedural was a great walk down memory lane for me. I highly recommend it.

T.F. Muir, originally from Glasgow, now shares his time between the USA and the UK. The Killing Connection is the seventh in the DCI Gilchrist series. It was published in hardback in June 2017 by Constable (£19.99)
