Book review: psychological thriller The Girl With No Past by Kathryn Croft
The Girl With No Past
by Kathryn Croft is a chilling psychological thriller that shows how you can never fully escape from your past no matter how hard you try.
(Release Date 15th October 2015)
Told in the first person from the point of view of the main character Leah Mills The Girl With No Past we quickly learn that Leah is reclusive, has cut herself off from her past and has difficulty forming new relationships. One day out of the blue Leah receives a threatening email from someone who clearly knows all about her past and is determined to exact retribution for something she did as a teenager. As Leah's stalker escalates and becomes more threatening we gradually learn more about her past through a series of flashbacks.
Being written in the first person makes Leah's plight immediate but somehow the story felt quite slow paced at times. I'm not sure how believable Leah is as a three dimensional character with varying emotional responses. The plot is believable and the twists are well spaced culminating in a more fast paced ending. A good read.
