As I write this review, I must confess to having first nipped out to the shops to buy some Blu Tak.  If you take the time to read Stav's article, Be warned your webcam is watching you , you'll know why - thanks for the tip, Stav!
The Intrusions is one of those books that when it grips you (for me at about three chapters in) it is relentless. Perhaps it's to do with our complete fascination for the possibilities, good and bad, of the 'internet age'. Whatever it is, it seems that Sheraz has captured and bottled it.

The Intrusions is a police procedural for the digital age and it is chilling.  It, as is all crime fiction, is a social commentary on our times with themes of bullying, cyber stalking, drugs and risk taking all very strong throughout.  This is Book three in the Carrigan and Miller series, but the first I have read. I found it read well as a stand alone, but will be going back to catch up on the rest of the series.

In the middle of an audit, designed to irritate her boss, Detective Miller stumbles across a distressed young woman in the station waiting room.  Desperate for a break from 'audit supervision', Miller takes the time to discover that the girl is there to report the disappearance of her friend three days earlier, by a shadowy figure whose last works were that he would 'claim her next'.
Carrigan and Miller, despite their personal lives trying to intrude, set about unraveling what has happened to these two young women in a case that takes them from a Bayswater hostel, to Bali and the dark web.

Sherez skillfully writes the victims plight in a way that makes you think you are right there with them as they slowly succumb to the intrusion.  The relentless, lawless persecution is viscerally portrayed and through twists and turns he ensures you're there for the long haul .
Chillingly authentic, expertly delivered and rounded up with aplomb.
