Book review: 24 Hours by Claire Seeber, a chilling psychological thriller!

When her best friend is killed in an arson attack Laurie Smith is convinced that she was the intended victim.  24 Hours takes us on a race against time, for Laurie to reconnect with her daughter before her mysterious attacker finds her.

Written in the first person from Laurie’s point of view gives us front row seats as we are taken on an emotional journey through marriage breakups, abusive relationships, complex friendships, jealousies and ultimately murder.

Flashbacks provide the meaty backstory, which is believably chilling and humbly realistic.  Seeber keeps us on our toes, throwing in twists and turns and layers upon layers of suspenseful intrigue.   Who can poor Laurie trust? I challenge you to guess ‘whodunnit’ before the end.  For fans of the psychological thriller in the style of Elizabeth Haynes, Sophie Hannah or Louise Voss , 24 Hours is a must read.
