Blogger's Blag: The Crime Warp Theakston's Old Peculier Awards 2015

As is the case every year, us lucky reader's get the chance to see our favourite crime writer's, critics, forensic experts and all, up close and very, very dangerous and 2015 at Theakston's Crime Writing festival was no exception.  So this year The Crime Warp decided to do our very own Honours awards for some of the lucky panelists using our own very exacting criteria for selection.  Read on to find out who fared well this year!

The Crime Warp Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival Awards are as follows:

Most Humble
This award without doubt must go to the wonderful Sara
Paretsky who from her acceptance of her life time achievement award and through her conversation with Val McDermid showed what a wonderful person she really is.  She spoke movingly and honestly about her experiences as a crime writer and was humorous to boot. So enamoured with her was I, that I actually wanted to give her all the awards.

Most Loveable
This award, without a doubt has to go to forensic pathologist Professor James Grieve  who is without a doubt the sweetest, loveliest dead body lover you could find anywhere. His enthusiasm and vigour lit up the room and his stories are enthralling.

Most Funny
Well, Mark Lawson is second to none in the one liners
department. From quips about Sepp Blatter to Theakston's empty barrels and Mr Nessar and Witness Protection the jokes came fast and furious and Mr Lawson is our deserved winner in the most funny category.

Most Debonair
Well I for one was happy to wake up to the handsome and debonair Andrew Taylor for the Sunday morning Patricia Highsmith panel.  Erudite and charming this panel was a delight to behold with Andrew's relaxed chairing and easy manner.  A fair few in the audience were swooning by the end I believe.

Most Chic
Trust Eddie Izzard to make a pair of jeans and a blazer look
sleek and chic... and it's all down to his skillful accessorizing. A lightly floral scarf picking out the colour of his perfectly manicured varnished finger nails and a pair of designer sun specs nonchalantly perched on his head.  I'd give a lot to be as suave as him... and he was bloody funny too! (hmmph)

Most Cute
This has to go to New Blood panelist Lucy Ribchester who's enthusiasm for her subject matter and revelations about cluttered bedrooms and haunting charity shops were so endearing as was her fresh faced innocence.  Lovely woman, great book!
